March 2019

Saturday Market

We loaded up the boys and headed to the Helotes Farmer's Market. I LOVE farmers markets. This one was pretty awesome. Tons of vendors, a great variety of items, and they had free activities for kiddos, like a bounce house. The boys were in heaven. We picked up some local honey that is phenomenal. The location for this market is in old town Helotes, and it lives up to the title. A little peace of the country tucked among all the suburbs! If I asked Maverick what his favorite thing was, it would probably be the gum ball machine that one of the vendors had at their booth. Ever since then, he will randomly tell me "If I get a quarter, I want to go back to that place and get a gum ball!"

Double Trouble

We decided it was time for Lincoln to upgrade to a bed, since he has been successfully climbing out of his crib for a solid year or so. He picked out his own bedding and was thrilled when it arrived. Maverick also got a good end of this deal, not only getting a new bed frame, but a new mattress as well...he also ended up with a matching Batman comforter (not pictured here); which I was actually happy that Lehi suggested we let him pick a new one, too, since the two comforters not matching was secretly driving me crazy. ;) The first night, we went to check on Lincoln and found him in-between the beds, all snuggled up on the floor. We were curious how having the boys in the same room would go, but we moved Lincoln on a night he was sick, so he was willing to pass out about anywhere, which totally worked to our benefit.
Overall, things have been pretty good, although those boys like to chit-chat and (occasionally) create forts instead of sleeping.

Pie Day

I decided to try to be a good mom and not only make pie for 3/14 BUT also pick a recipe that was simple enough that they boys could help. We went to the store to get out ingredients (among a few other things). Maverick and Lincoln both insisted on having their own baskets--both of which I ended up carrying to check out because they were "too heavy."
On the way home, we made a stop at a small donut shop. These boys love donuts, and like being able to pick their very own, perhaps more than eating them. Maverick proudly told me he picked the donut he did because "it has those clover things that those little green guys have." I made them "sing donuts" in the car before they could have theirs--a "tradition" that caught on after Ronnie made Grandma Heiner (who was about 90 at the time) sing for her donut.
When we got home, it was time to make a pie. They loved helping make the pudding filling and slopping it into the pie crust. Maverick was very anxious to eat it and proclaimed "it's delicious" when he was finally able to dive in.

Lehi's Love

Uncle Tyler came to visit for a few days--a vacation that Lehi really needed. They games, went to the movies, and ate a ton of food, but the purpose and highlight of the trip was seeing Taking Back Sunday in Austin. Their tickets included a chance to meet the band, which they were both giddy to do.
Maverick would ask me, "Mom, how many days until Uncle Tyler gets here?" And every day Tyler was at the house, Mav would want to be home and spending time with them. He was super sad when he left! Lincoln also warmed up to him, which is kinda a big deal for that kid.

The day before Tyler flew in, Lehi took the day off work to spend with the boys. They went to Chuck E. Cheese (he didn't take any pictures) and then Chick-fil-et for lunch, where I met them. Mav reported his favorite game he played was the "fishing game."

Quotes from the Boys:

Lincoln says "Oh shoo" (shoot), at least 10 times a day. Usually when he drops something, or puts his shoes on the wrong feet. It was pretty awesome and clearly something he gets from me.

Maverick (playing upstairs with cousins): "You can never take my powers. It's inside us. It's in our hearts."

More March Pictures:

Lehi took the boys shopping; a bakery worker asked if they boys wanted cupcakes.
