Lincoln is 6 Months

-Weight & height will be added Wed after Doctors appointment
-Size 2 diapers
-3-6 month clothes
-Eats 6 oz every 3 hours
-Wakes up around 2 am & 5 am, to eat. Up by 7.
-Grabs bink out of mouth (and attempts to put it back in)
-Favorite toy: wipe bag--he likes the crinkly sound
-Loves his Exercauscer & standing up (with help)
-Grabs his toes often
-Nibbles on hands...the gags himself and throws up
-Giggles, squeels, and smiles big
-Terrible gag reflex--do solids via a spoon and the syringe to make sure he actually eats something
-Attempts to mimic sounds--growls back at Dad
-Up on knees and rocking --oh boy!
-Really good at scooting backwards. Forward...not so much
-Whines and then smiles when you talk to him--while trying to maintain a sad/whining face
-Sits unsupported pretty well, a little wobbly
-Loves Maverick, laughs whenever he laughs and stares him down when Mav plays
-Most ticklish on collar bone and thighs
-Drooling fein (expecting teeth soon)
-Solids 1-2 times a day--likes bananas, apples, and peaches. not a fan of pears
-Uses his feet to hold bottle
-Discovered his tongue and chews on it

Pappi!

We played the "who is your favorite, mommy or daddy with Maverick. His response: "Pappi!"

"Go Daddy" Party

Lehi applied and interviewed for a new position at work. We were all super excited when he got the job--doing something he really enjoys! On a whim, Maverick, Lincoln, and I decided to celebrate by decorating the house and making a cake. While I quickly worked on a banner, Maverick made a card for Lehi--he spent a lot of time on it and was really proud. He made sure it was front and center on the counter. I also had to talk Maverick out of putting a candle in the cake. The best part of it all was how excited Maverick was to show Lehi both the card and decorations!

Valentines Day

We kept Valentine's day pretty low key this year--which is just the way I like it. We exchanged gifts a day early because we are both terrible about waiting. Lehi got me a cast iron skillet I had been wanting and I scored a deal on some Billy Joel vinyl to add to Lehi's collection. We actually celebrated about 2 weeks late (because we get each other and recognize we both hate crowds) and enjoyed a nice, quiet steak dinner at Saltgrass Steak House. Lehi said he was thinking about where to take me and then ultimately decided, "you are a steak and potatoes girl, so let's do steak and potatoes." He planned 2 more parts to the date--Japanese Tea Gardens and filling up a pound box at Sees, but San Antonio traffic got the best of us and we ended up going browsing some near-by stores instead.

Valentine's Day Cake Confusion

Every Valentine's Day growing up, Dad ordered an ice cream cake "to my girls" that we would all consume in about 2 days. Since moving out of the house and having families of our own, Dad has continued this tradition by ordering cakes in 4 different states, getting a call from the credit card company for fraud alert, telling them it was indeed him ordering ice cream cakes from all over the country, and each of us getting our very own cake to pick up on Valentine's Day. I was a little sick that day, so Lehi and Maverick went to pick up the cake. Maverick walked through our door with a proud, cheesy grin, and said while spreading his arms declared, "Happy Birthday! We got you cake!" He then proceeded to tell us we needed to put candles on the cake and sing Happy Birthday. So we did. It was so funny. I guess cakes are always associated with birthdays in our home.

Peter Pan & The Shadow

Maverick really likes watching Jake and the Neverland Pirates so I thought he would actually sit down and pay attention to Peter Pan. I was right--he was glued to the movie the whole time and requests to watch it about once a week now. The thing that stood out most to him was Peter Pan's shadow. He would see his shadow on his wall at bedtime, point and laugh while saying, "Silly shadow." One of my favorite shadow stories (thus far) was when I asked him to get a diaper for Lincoln so I could change him. Maverick proceeded to get the diaper, threw it on the ground, and then backed himself up so the hand of his shadow was just over the diaper. He stood there for a few minutes and then exclaimed:
"Mom! My shadow no pick up the diaper!"

(Side note: Maverick is also fond of Trolls, Power Rangers (old school one), Magic School Bus, Super Why, Voltron, and any and all Superhero shows).

The Muffin

This month has been a good opportunity to help teach Maverick how to give gifts and share. From Valentine's Day parties with our mommy play group (I am pretty sure there were 20+ kids there), to friend's birthdays, we have had the chance to practice a lot. On Valentines's Day, we went to the gym with a gift for the child care teacher. He was so excited as he ran through the gym, proudly holding the bag of sweets. Maverick ran into the play areas and said, "thank you" while handing her the bag of treats. We brought a similar bag to one worker for the next 2 weeks. Maverick always lit up and talked the whole ride to the gym about how happy he was to give them the little thank you.
Skip over to a Saturday morning at the end of the month-- we were eating some muffins for breakfast and getting ready to go to a birthday party. Maverick was pounding muffins so when he came into the family room to get his shoes on, with yet another muffin in hand, I told him he needed to go put it back. "Mom, it a special muffin. It for my friend. It a good choice to give to him. He put candle in it. It his birfday." I couldn't talk him out to bring the muffin, so he proudly held it in his car seat and gave it to his friend for his Birthday. I suppose the talk we had been having each week about how it makes us happy to share and give gifts stuck!

Maverick Cooks

Recently, Maverick has been quite the little chef. He will use all sorts of things from the kitchen to pretend to bake--from the ice cream scoop to loaf pans. One Sunday, I asked Maverick if he would make me a sandwich to which he excitedly exclaimed, "yes mom!" So we let him have at it (and were very impressed with the final products).
