Valentine's Day

Valentines Day 2015

Our usual "Celebrate-Valentines-Day-The-Day-After" scheme was thwarted with it falling on a Sunday. No 50% chocolates this year. So we decided to celebrate a little differently.
It started off with me getting ready early in the morning and heading into the lab to supervise a research group. (You are already enthralled and completely interested in what happened next after that sentence, I am sure). I was there until the afternoon when we loaded up Maverick and headed to Sams club to run errands and have our favorite "hot-dog" combo lunch. Maverick enjoyed my frozen yogurt as much as I did.

Lehi then told me he wanted to go to the Gun Shop to look around and see if they had a clip for his gun. (I had my suspicions that it may have been for more than that, but I suppressed that as much as possible) We browsed around a bit and then headed to the gun counter. Lehi nonchalant asked what guns I liked and had me try a few out. We then headed to our favorite store to shop for nothing and everything, Ross.

While we were in Ross, I smelt a particular potent smell...one that I am very familiar with. I told Lehi I needed to change Maverick and grabbed the diaper bag....no wipes. Seriously!? So we called Rachel to see if we could crash her V-day party and change Maverick.

Of course, when I change him I discover it was just a repugnant ever-lingering fart. But it was nice to see Hudson and the family, so I guess it wasn't a terrible things that we forgot his wipes!

Long before we left, we decided we would not be eating out on Valentine's Day. Crowds, lines, waits, bleh. So we stopped at Winco to pick up some steaks for dinner.

Lehi then decided he wanted to go back to the gun shop...dun dun dun...to get me my Valentine's Day present. Welcome to the family M&P 9 mm Shield!

True love.

Then we ate our delicious dinner of baked cauliflower and steaks and watched the Ninja Turtles. I got super annoyed with Lehi after the first 5 minutes of watching the movie because he was quoting EVERYTHING. I called him out on it...he said, "I'm only quoting half of them!" and then after quoting an entire scene, looking at me and stating firmly, "I'm talking to Maverick!"

Maverick. Oh, Maverick. He has spent one too many days home alone with me. He was playing with his truck and would open up the seat, put Lehi's dirt socks in it, close it, walk around, open it again and take out the socks, close the seat, open it and put them in, etc. He kept this up for a solid 15 minutes. It was so funny!

As always, my Dad got me a Valentine's Day Ice Cream Cake. We cannot tell him enough how much we love this tradition. 5 daughters in 5 different states and he makes sure each year we get our cake.

On Monday, President's Day, Lehi and I took out the guns, Rebekah graciously watched Mav Monster, and we went shooting. It was SO fun. I told Lehi I would rather spend $10.00 on amo and go shooting instead of spending it on a movie ticket. We loved it. Lehi made fun of me....a lot...but I am still getting the feel f my gun. And I love it.
