November 2018

Soccer Show-down

Maverick's soccer season came to an end this month. He loved playing on Parker's team. Although we bribed him with a piece of candy every time he kicked the ball, the kid did alright! Lehi took the boys to the end-of-the-season party where Mav got his glow-in-the-dark, first ever trophy.

President Nelson Devotional

Lincoln was sick, so I stayed home with him and Lehi took Maverick downtown to the Alamo-Dome to attend a devotional with President Nelson. At the end, Maverick cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled, "THANK YOU PROPHET!"

Arizona Trip

The highlight of the month was our trip to Arizona to see our family. I did my best the day of the trip to wear the boys out, which consisted of the church parking lot and scooters.
Lehi and I alternated driving and went through the night--it was worth it. The boys (overall) did really well. While I wish I could remember a day-by-day play, it will be easier just to focus on the big events/activities:

The boys all played together SO well. The spent 80% of the trip outside in the backyard. This is a picture of the featured "ant trap" they built and the park Alex and I went to on the perfect day.

Alex also introduced me to Spinach Artichoke Soup, just like the dip, but in soup form. History was made, people. A landmark for the Thomas family.

Alex also made my beloved peanut butter bars; which I eat roughly by the pound.

"Friendsgiving." We had all the food. All the sides. It was perfect. Alex and I did a lot of the prep the night before, which made everything much more relaxing. We had sweet potatoes for the first time as an additional side and they were pretty much like a crack candy. (Thank you Westensee for the recipe). The evening, we went over to the (bigger) Lovells for desserts; my pie started in the trunk, and then moved its way to the front seat on my lap during a red light. Oh the looks I got. At the Lovell's: Pies, s'mores, hot cocoa, games--featuring pickle ball and Can Jam. (Pickle ball was a blast), chatting with all the family, and relaxing.

Our attempt at a group picture...we all look amazing!

Thanksgiving Part 2: Kristina was awesome enough to pick me up at the Lovell's so we could spend some much needed time together. On our way, Kristina decided to send me into a sketchy gas station to get a newspaper so we could look at the Black Friday shopping. She sent me in with a $5 bill, and commented how she was "not giving me all her money." I laughed and said, "Is that because you think I am going to get robbed when I am in there?!?" to which she laughed and said, "yup."
Long story story, the paper ended up being $5.00 and when I got back in the car she exclaimed, "Five bucks!? If I would have know it was that much I wouldn't have bothered!"

We went back to the Miller family Thanksgiving where I was introduced to Quip Lash & Faker. We slept a few hours at Kristina's house and then headed out shopping with Mia in tow. It was so much fun. We ate Swig cookies way to early in the morning and shopped for about 7 hours straight. Kristina is always one for good conversations. We met Lehi and Tyler at Ikea and said a see-you-soon goodbye, because I we were planning on spending more time at her house on our way home.

....clearly I was the worst at taking a picture with Kristina....I even told her to remind me!

First ever hockey game--it was so much fun! It started out super intense with goals being scored within minutes of each other.....and then pretty much no goals for the rest of the game. But it was still a fun atmosphere and great company.

Indoor trampoline park. Oh my goodness. Lincoln was a daredevil, Maverick liked to do small hops. Dawson and Jackson were more like Lincoln. I was perfectly content watching everyone jump, slide, hop, and swing around (boo for a bum knee). Linc was so funny on the gymnast rings. He would just hang there and then when he would slip and then chase the ring around until he finally grabbed it. Alex also did her hair magic on Lehi and I....I attempted to learn how to do a proper men's haircut by watching her.

We had a blast with our college family & their family. On our way out, we visited with the Millers (Dustin made an amazing dinner, of course). Dustin also did some dry-needling and PT work on us old crippled bodies, Lehi's hip and my low back. We played some more quip lash and the boys were in heaven playing with their cousins, especially with the Foosball table. Kristina loaded me up with a ton of ideas of what I want to do to my house and vinyl for days. Girl is creative crafty, and handy all in one. I loved spending time with them!

Favorite quotes (that are not included in the paragraphs):

Lehi: "Here we are, at the end of everything, and it's just you and me, pretzel salad."

Jackson: "Hey little fella."
Alex:"Do you know his name is Lincoln?"
Jackson: "Hey little fella Lincoln."

Alex (talking about Lincoln): "He is a sweaty little guy!" (no truer words have ever been spoken)
