FHE Brackets
Naturally, for our FHE activity we filled out our March Madness Brackets. Lehi and I each came up with our "stakes" to bring to the table to add a competitive edge. We decided the winner would go get a massage at the massage school. After they were complete, appropriate titles were given:The Money Maker (Mom's)
The Answer (Dad's)
Perfect Sunday
We were invited over to our tri-annual "amazing food at Eli's to celebrate the end of the semester" event. Lehi, Maverick, and I eagerly loading into the car with empty bellies so we could stuff them as full as we possibly could with some tremendous food. We were not disappointed--elk steaks & burgers, jerk chicken, and baked cauliflower to cookies, brownies, and lemonade.
Maverick loved the open back yard to play in and fulfilled his duty of being a boy--he found a stick to play with (which entertained him for a solid 20 minutes), threw rocks in the back of a mini dump truck, and almost played with poop. He sure did look cute doing it all, though!
Pie Day
For Family Home Evening, we decided to celebrate "pie" day by getting cupcakes with the Cherry family. On our way, we stopped at the dollar store, because, why not? Lehi picked up a few cans of silly string to use on Joe. We arrived at Cocoa Bean a little early--which was perfect for Lehi to set up in grand attack scheme. After watching who knows how many cars drive by or anxiously watching them park, finally, the Cherry's car arrived. Lehi acted casual as he walked up to Joe and then with ninja-quick skills, he fired the silly string. It was considerably anticlimactic, but we got a good laugh out of it. In the end, Maverick and Sam enjoyed their spoonful's of cupcake ice cream, while we enjoyed talking about the upcoming Eagle's season. And thus "pie" day came to a close. The Things You Say, When You Are Alone With A 1-Year Old All Day
Maverick has been in a habit lately, of getting into the garbage can and sorting through its contents on the kitchen floor. I was doing homework in the bedroom when I heard Lehi say this:
"Maverick that's not for you! That's not for anyone...(insert long pause there)...that's garbage."
Birthday Party:
Maverick showed his true Thomas colors when he found his birthday present hiding under our bed, brought it out to the living room, and proceeded to play with it about a week early. I decided I would just re-wrap it for his actual birrthday, since he wouldn't know the difference anyways.
Maverick was spoiled rotten for his birthday. He and Sam were less than enthusiastic about digging into their piece of cake. They made us laugh, ate a little cake, opened presents (which they did surprisingly well), and enjoyed being spoiled by alle people who came to celebrate their very first birthday party (Joe, Jess, Tyler, Alex, Dawson, Jackson, Avery, Cheri, Beckah, Rachel, Taylor, & Hudson)
Smash Cake/1 Year Pictures
In between General Conference Sessions on Saturday, we had a smash cake session for Maverick. He was more interested in the balloons than the cake. He hated the texture of the frosting, so he steered clear of it for awhile. Eventually, we gave him a few devices that he used to play in the cake--like the rice cooker spoon. Our photographer we very patient and (as you can see) very talented.
