I am going to over-simplify things in this post. There are
LOTS of details that can be included but the ones given will be sufficient. I will
leave the painstaking details for my 10 page journal entry. J
Lucky for me, my parents arrived in Rexburg about the same
time I headed into surgery. They were right there when it was all finished. Mom
came bearing gifts for Maverick—lots of super cute newborn pajamas (which he
wore his entire first month of life because none of our 0-3 month clothes fit
him). Dad came bearing goodies—Dairy Queen blizzards for Lehi and I (he has always shown his love with food). They
visited me every day I had to stay in the hospital.

| Maverick's newborn pjs from Grandma McDonald. He wore them so much we called them his "Grandma Jamas." They were a little big for him initially. |
We also had amazing friends and family come visit us—but
mostly to snuggle Maverick. Alex spoiled me with some stylish pajamas (blue and white zebra stripes) and delicious jamba
juice.
Our very talented McKenna came and took some newborn
pictures for us. Here are a few of our favorites:
Oh. And then there is the rash. I had an allergic reaction
to betadine (the sterilizing agent they doused my back in when administering
the epidural). Needless-to-say this bumpy, swollen rash progressed into weeping blisters,
scabs, and dry, itchy skin. After about a month, many doctors’ appointments,
and a ridiculous amount of drugs and topicals, it finally got better. This
nifty picture is the “rash-turining-into-blisters-stage”:

I was released from the hospital 3 days post-op and was
walking on my own. I was elated. My recovery was awesome, overall. I was
walking up and down stairs, doing laundry, cleaning the house, making dinner, ect
(even though my awesome mom and dad who were helping me kept telling me to stop
and slow down) At my 3 week post-op
appointment I was given permission to carry the car-seat and start working out
again. The only downside about my recovery was that darned rash.
I was so grateful to have my parents there to help me. My mom would take Maverick during the night for me so I could sleep. (He was on formula because I wasn't allowed to feed him due to the steroids and numberless other drugs I was on for my rash). It was so nice having their help, support, and love. I LOVED spending time with them. They are awesome grandparents!
Shout out to Lehi for helping me get in and out of bed,
bring Maverick to me so I could feed him (bedridden for a few days post-surgery),
walking at slower-than-grandma-with-a-walker-pace with me around the hospital,
helping me shower, dress, and pee, to list a few. He was a trooper through it
all.
